Leland Heidema moved to the Churchill community when his parents immigate to the area from the Netherlands to start a dairy. During his senior year in high school, Leland took over day to day management of the dairy's operations as his father retired due to health issues. Today, Leland and his brother Kent and their families milk between 500 and 600 cows each day and run a 200 head Angus beef cattle herd. Additionally, Leland farms on several thousand acres to raise hay and grain needed for the dairy and beef cattle operations and for cash crops as a rotation.
